Visit the library’s lower level to catch special guest, historian and textile expert Valerie Davis, as she presents “Wisconsin in the Civil War: Comforts from the Home Front.” During the 1861-1865 Civil War years, people back home in Wisconsin responded to the needs of their soldiers in many ways, from sending foodstuffs to knitting socks, from letter-writing to the making of shirts, and from creating portable sewing kits to the sewing of quilts.
